My name is Bethany Myers, and I am the founder of Content Social Media Queen. I started my business in 2016, and I remember it like it was yesterday.
I was visiting my brother in my hometown of Reno, Nevada during Christmas time. I had lost my fiancé not long before, and I was at the very end of myself. I felt numb. I felt lost. I truly did not know where to go next.
During that visit, I remember talking with my brother and his wife, Megan. They were incredibly encouraging. They reminded me of who I was when I had forgotten. They told me how much they believed in me and how they knew I was never meant to be a typical 9-5 kind of girl.
I have always been creative. I have always thought outside the box. Trying to force myself into a Monday through Friday desk job felt like I was shrinking myself to fit somewhere I never belonged. I had been trying to live inside that box for far too long, and my intuition was screaming at me. It felt like it was banging on the glass walls, telling me it was time to break free.
So I did.
I did not overthink it. I also did not make the mistake of draining my finances on an “epic mastermind class” promising extraordinary results in an unrealistic amount of time. (PS, yes that’s a major red flag you should steer clear of in the marketing world.) I did not hire someone and spend thousands of dollars to learn how to do it the “right” way. I simply started.
I created a company name and sketched a little logo effortlessly on a piece of scratch paper, posted two options on my Facebook page, and implored my friends and family to vote. That was it. That small, imperfect moment was the beginning of Content Social Media Queen.
From there, it took off.
Over time, it grew into something much bigger than a business. It became an entity and a legacy. It became something I am deeply proud of and something I have no desire to part with.
There is so much more I could say, but the real message behind all of this is simple:
I want to encourage you, just like my family encouraged me.
I want to remind you that you are capable if you have integrity, desire, and the resilience to keep going even when fires come up and trials happen. Because they will.
Some people are meant for more than working for other people. And I want to be very clear here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with working for someone else. It is important, valuable, and necessary work. But if you feel that pull inside you, that quiet voice that says “there is more!!” it may be worth listening to.
